Smart Grid for Smart Homes
Abstract
The world is currently facing an unprecedented energy crisis driven by population growth, urbanization, and industrialization, which are placing immense pressure on global energy resources. As a result, the modern energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, shifting from a centralized, one-way power distribution model to a decentralized, interactive, and intelligent system known as the smart grid. At the heart of this transition lies the concept of the smart home. The integration of smart grid technology with smart homes marks a transformative shift in the energy landscape, changing the way energy is generated, distributed, and consumed. This system is built on a sophisticated architecture that enables seamless communication and energy flow. By moving away from traditional unidirectional power distribution to a bidirectional, data-driven ecosystem, smart grids empower consumers to participate in energy management actively. They play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and functionality of smart homes. This paper explores the integration of smart grid technologies into smart homes and highlights their potential to redefine residential energy consumption.
